Easter Break: The Illusion of Summer Break

I think we can all agree that when you're a teenager going to school, the best feeling is when school break starts. I mean...you cant blame us! We get to wake up at the time we would be finishing school and don't study as much as we would if schools were open. Thats like heaven for most teenagers! Imagine us, the teens who get to grow up on an island...

Every year I spend Easter Break in Kefalonia with my parents and the rest of the family. Easter is considered one of the best holidays and "seasons" on our island. We get to wake up and go to the beach with our friends till late and go to plenty family gatherings.

Today you'll get to know how Easter is spent on our beautiful island...!

When school closed for two weeks everyone was sooo excited! Many of my friends came from different places just to spend the holidays here, I was so happy to see everyone after so long. Even though our Bucket List was really really long and had various things for us to do, unfortunately we didn't manage to do half of them since the two weeks break passed and felt more like two days...I'm not complaining i had an amaaazing time, I just hope there would be more.

We got so lucky, the weather the whole time was absolutely great!Sunny all day long, warm but not too much and the water at the beach felt like the perfect temperature. There was in fact not even one day that we missed the beach...and I'm so happy we didn't!I can't explain with words how it felt diving, fishing and going spearfishing all together and after, at night sitting around the bonfire talking and playing games...You can tell this already makes me feel nostalgic.I also really enjoyed playing beach volley and tanning ALL DAY LONG.

Apart from all the fun with friends, I also spent some really special moments with my family. A tradition that I have with my grandma is baking Easter cookies and painting the eggs. We have been doing that since I remember myself and I'm so glad I have the opportunity to still do that. It kind of feels like it brings my grandma and I closer and I LOVE that for us! I almost forgot to talk about what my grandpa loves doing when us girls bake...Yep, you guessed it, it's eating all the delicious cookies!! Honestly, I get it...Even I, the baker can't wait to eat them when i should. Additionally I went to plenty family gatherings and reunited with cousins I hadn't seen from last Easter...We shared stories and laughed like no time had passed. My favorite moment was probably when we were all sitting at the balcony admiring the beautiful view, talking about everything and nothing...

Looking back, this Easter break was everything i needed- laughter, fun activities, memories and the people I love most! Weather it was diving with my friends at the sea or baking cookies with my grandma felt special on it's own way.Memories like those remind me how lucky I am to grow up on an island.I already cant wait for next Easter break!!
